1Q) Why does Chikako lie about the Inamura girl and Fumiko getting married?

1A) She wants to manipulate the guys mind. Or she is trying to show that the guy didn’t win, because she wants him to feel that he lost the chance to marry Inamura girl. She lied about Fumiko because she didn’t want him to marry her.

2Q) Do Fumiko and the guy get together in the end?

2A) Nothing explicit, but the text could be alluding to something else. This could lead to another question…

3Q) What was the point of the story?

3A) I’m not sure about this one…any ideas?
